hi y'all,

not sure if there's an appropriate place to post this, if there is one at all. but i've heard (and personally felt) so many comments on the price increases at WSP, which i've used for so many misc. products like clays.

NDA has dramatically lowered their shipping costs, which i never could afford before, and the selections are awesome. i also love camden gray and brambleberry :)

if this is inappropriate, admins, please feel free to delete or move, but i am definitely doing a happy dance :D

I'm glad you mentioned it. I have never bought from them, but now they are on my radar. THanks!

PS. I use BB and CG a lot and love them as well!

Thanks for mentioning. NDA was always higher shipping than i wanted to pay but i'll have to check again.

I get free shipping at WSP when I order $30+. I'm new to all this but it sounded like a good deal to me, and their prices didn't seem too bad. Maybe I'm getting ripped off and didn't realize it :(

"Free shipping" just means that their shipping costs are rolled into their prices. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. In many cases I do better with WSP paying higher prices for ingredients but not having a shipping charge. In some cases MMS has a better deal even when you factor in shipping. For oils etc I still can't beat Columbus Foods.

Have never ordered from NDA though I've checked them out. I suspect I would have ordered from them if it was cost effective so I'll have to take another look.

With 'free' shipping, the smaller your orders, the better off you are.

Shipping costs (via Fed/Ex, UPS) go down per pound as your order weight goes up.

EX) 10# ships for $12 ($1.20cents per pound)
20# ships for $18 (.90cents per pound)
30# ships for $22 (.73cents per pound)

When shipping is wrapped (free) into the cost of the product you pay a flat $12 per 10#'s.
Ex 10# ships for $12
20# ships for $24
30# ships for $36

So the smaller crafter may be getting a fair shake, but the person who orders in bulk is not. The supply company (WSP) for instance is getting charged the bulk price (in this example) $22, but the buyer is paying the $36. So where does the other $14 go? In their pocket, probably to subsidies the free shipping they are now offering to Canada. $16 may not be enormous, but what about those of us that order that much each wee, or twice weekly? If you ordered a pallet, say of soap base, the shipping difference between what you pay and what it cost could easily be $500. So, if you are a home crafter ordering a pound of coconut oil and 2oz of blackberry vanilla fo, you'll probably be fine. If you are making a living from this, or are planning to, free shipping is counter productive.
