Shampoo Soap

I've been making soap for a couple of months now, and loving it. I tried out a shampoo recipe which has been alright, although im still trying to get something similar to what ive bought and used before.

I made a batch that had heaps of stuff in it, olive oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil apricot kernal oil and avacado oil plus essential oils...it turned out good but it kinda doesnt rub as well on my hair as i'd like it to, it kind of grips a little when i start rubbing iykwim.

So I was just wondering if anyone had any good shampoo bar recipes that they are willing to share :?: Pretty pretty please

I do not like shampoo bars or using CP soap for shampoo. It leaves a film on my hair. I have been trying SYNDET (means synthetic detergent) shampoo cakes. They clean without stripping and you can tweak the ingredients to suit your hair type. I have extremely thick, snarly tangled hair and I have pretty good success with the SYNDET.

I am sorry I am no help with the shampoo bars.

This might sound very elementary, but have you tried to google the terms "shampoo bar recipe"?

I had googled haha and of course theres stacks of recipes there but i thought id ask here for a tried tested and much loved one, but yeah it does look like no one wants to share lol.

My favourite shampoo bar is just the 100% coconut with 20% lye discount. Made with goats milk.

jenny, does it leave any residue in the hair, or does it rinse out nicely?

I haven't noticed any residue. It leaves my hair squeaky clean and I need to follow up with a conditioner but in that respect, it's no different to how my hair feels after washing with shampoo. I think the goats milk makes my hair grow faster though. :wink:

I read from candleandsoap.about, they suggested 10-15% of castor oil for shampoo bar to increase moisturising creamy lather.

If you stand under the shower and massage your hair with the bar while the water runs through it you should get alot more sudsing action. I've also found that the longer your bar ages the better. I do crockpot so usually start using them within a week or 2 but giving them a few months makes them much better, esp. the lather.

Bubbles Galore - you said you think the gm makes your hair grow faster? I've got a can of gm that I've been wanting to do soap with. Hmmm... I'm out of chamomile and rosemary but could pick some up at the grocery store this afternoon and make an infusion and think I have some mint from my garden left. Me thinks the gm needs to go in the crockpot tonight ! Thanks for the tip. I'm open to anything that will make my hair grow
