Well I finally made my first shampoo - I used EVOO, CO, Castor, Jojoba, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Extract, egg yolks, beer and of course water. I used it already and love ti. I did the ACV rinse - didn't like that and ended up putting some shea butter on my hair to moisturize it after the rinse but I love how soft my hair is! I'm going to make a cream rinse too. The only challenge I have is that the shampoo is separating so I need to get some Certo to get it to stay together. I added Coconut FO to get the scent I wanted in this....yes I have to admit it, FO's & EO's are not a bad thing.... 8)

I bought some 8 oz bottle for this and now that I have my logo I can develop a label for it....

Hey Chrissy - more like there is no end to my curiousity... :p :p :p

Thank you on my logo I am really excited!!! The company that did it was so quick and their questions really do lead you to what is going to work best for you - at least that was my experience. I didn't even need to tweek it!!!

Hi Lindy! That sounds lovely and congratulations. So did you emulsify the shampoo at all? Or is that the 'certo' that you plan on adding? I have a pastille form product lying around called 'conditioning emulsifier'......it can be used with plain water (or lots of other liquids of course) to make a basic conditioner.....hmmm, now I will have to try that one to see if it will bind a liquid shampoo

I will be making my first shampoo soap bar this week coming for my daughter, Casey....wish me luck!

Hi Topcat - that was exactly what the "Certo" was going to be for, but I just saw on another thread that Stearic Acid can abe used as an emulsifier so I'm going to use that. Certo is Pectin and I had read that will work too.

Last night I mixed the shampoo back together and discovered that I needed to add even more water. This morning I got up and it was stable and it was a cream! So I took some and turned it into liquid shampoo and am leaving the base as a cream so it's there and can be sold in either style once I'm done my testing.....

Here's pictures of the cream shampoo in the storage container....

I ended up not needing to add the stearic acid - I guess there is something to be said for patience.... :?

Chrissy it feels amazing IMHO :) I even tried as a straight cream hand soap and loved it!!! If I were to market it - it would become one of my most expensive soaps... Yet I think people will pay that for a cream shampoo as well as liquid shampoo.....hmmmm

I'm also thinking I can use this base to create a shaving cream soap by adding some clay to it to create the "slick" needed. This one is going to be fun to play with and see what I can come up with.....

Oh, Lindy that looks so creamy and yummy! What an amazing thing it has done! Have you followed a recipe or did you invent a whole new soapy thing? Is it saponified? Or just the ingredients added together? Wow.....you continually inspire me :D

Tanya :)

I used Germall Plus and Phytokeratin PF Protein Blend. It seperated on me last night, then I mixed it back up and it solidified and I had to add more water. Now it's a cream soap base and I add even more water to turn it into a liquid shampoo.

As of today it is no longer separating....

Here it is in the bottle...

Thank you -

Topcat I kinda made it up as I went along combining ingredients I had heard made a good shampoo. I put it all into my soapmaker program to get my lye and then I HP's the base then started adding more liquids and my coconut scent after that. I thought I was going to have to add another emulsifier when it came together...Now I have the cream base which I add water to for a liquid shampoo or leave as is for a cream shampoo.... 8)

Next on list is to create a conditioning rinse....now where did I put that Eye of Newt????

No, no, no, silly girl!!! Use frog hairs.......they work soooo much better than newt eyes.

Your shampoo looks so yummy!!! What is the pH? You may not need the ACV rinse. Then again, try a lower ratio. Those "everyone is different" things can be such a pain to figure out. I keep a plastic bottle in the bathroom that I refill from a larger bottle. Pour a splash or two into a plastic cup and add water when I am ready for it.

Clearhearts - thank you!

Digit - I`m sorry I don`t know the PH - what I can tell you is that my hair feels squeeky clean after shampooing and is silky soft....I don`t need a rinse.....

I guess I had better get a PH tester huh...and go find that frog hair or at least a frog to shave.....

Lindy your shampoo is beautiful. I was thinking of doing a soap bar made with Samuel Adams Triple Bock or Chocolate Bock but unfortunately the Triple Bock variety isn't available for sale in Georgia. Do you let the beer sit out and go flat before adding it to your recipe?
