I did some experimenting with this soap. I added shea butter to my basic recipe(OO, CO, PO, and Castor). I added salt and sugar to my lye water mixture 1/2 tsp per lb of oils. I added coconut milk at trace. I put a plastic divider in my mold to try to layer my different colors. I scented it with Raspberry and Lavender FO's (I just love that combo). I notice I have little white speckles throughout my soap. I cut a small piece off for zap testing and a sample washing test and it passed with flying colors. I had a lot of suds and a creamy smooth soap. So I am not sure what the little white specks are from. They are not rough the bars are really smooth. At first I thought it might be the salt although I stirred like crazy to make sure it all disolved in the lye/water solution. And it did all disolve, so wonder what the white specks could be? Has anyone else had this happen?

What I really loved about this soap was in 24 hours it came right out of the mold and was firm enough to cut. I usually have to wait at least 3 days to take soaps out of the molds that I use coconut milk in. They tend to have a cream cheese type consistancy for at least 2 days before firming up.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but they look like they could be either air bubbles or stearic spots.

The soap looks gorgeous though.

Wow, that's probably one of your best looking soaps. I love how you layered all those colors.

Thank you! I would love to know how ppl get perfect layers on either side of a middle divider, eventually you have to pull the divider out. Oh well.

I didn't use TD, so stearic spots will have to be the final answer.

Your soap is beautiful. I had a soap do that once when I used palm oil. Do you mind sharing what colors you used and you you purchased them?

Thank you! The colorant is ultramarine blue, I got it at symphony scents. I left the one layer natural, and used the blue in the rest in different quantities to get those colors.

I always make sure I stir my palm oil before I scoop it out of my pail.

Thanks for the info on the colors. I stirred mine really good also but hence the white specks, so I have given up on palm oil. Not saying thats what it is, just saying it was for me.
