Thats a bit of a bummer. Made my soap a couple days ago and I don't care much for the looks, was hoping it would darken and blend all the ugly together. At least is smells good:)

I missed this previously... I recently soaped with this FO/brand at 4% and do like the color it gave, as I was not looking for a real brown soap. But I am still wondering if it will darken over time, since it is still young.

I thought the scent lost a lot of its complexity after the cut - it is almost all cherry now. On a different post, shunt2011 expressed different (better) results. What do you think of your scent, Obsidian? An did you end up sprinkling tobacco on the top?

My soap is slowly discoloring and so far I like where its going, it was too pale before. I have one bar that didn't gel, it's quite a bit lighter so far and has a better scent. Much of the smokey, tobacco scent has faded but thats alright with me. I'm not a fan of the scent so I like the mellower cherry.
I did add some powdered tobacco to the lighter portion on the soap and sprinkled a little of the coarse cut on top.
