I had some problems but I think these turned out all right. One of these days I'm going to have to learn to take better pictures. :D

Celtic Myst FO from Moonworks

I got lucky with this one. I used dark purple, medium green and polished silver micas to create a swirl. I thought it looked nice on the top and I felt good that it might look almost as nice when I cut it. But then I looked over and saw the salt bowl sitting on the counter.

After I stirred the salt in, the loaf was gray! :( Luckily, it altered to more of a tan color with purplish-gray swirl in it.

Celestial Sea from Moonworks

I love the color combo on the celestial sea. Love, love, love.

What do you think about those two FOs?

Salt bars and me aren't friends. Just ordered a couple individual molds.

Hazel I love how subtle the swirl came out on that top bar, and that aqua color looks soo pretty against the stark white of your salt bar.

..and the last time I made oatmeal soap, I poured the batter into the mold without the oats, hehe

I hate when this happens! Not too long ago I was making my Gardener's soap, a big batch. I swirled it in the mold with wheatgrass and nettle powders in one part, charcoal in the other. It was such a beautiful natural green and black swirl! And then I saw my cup with all the scrubbies sitting there on the table. Since my soap was still at a medium trace, I had to dump it all in the mold ant mix everything like mad with a whisk. It was a sad moment :(

Thanks everyone!

saltydog and margarita -

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to forget to add things. And margarita - I know how you felt.

Although they didn't turn out quite like I envisioned in my mind, I am happy with them. The pictures really don't show them very well.

PrairieCraft -

Both FOs were really nice to work with - no acceleration. On the site, the info on Celtic Myst said something about slight discoloration. I think it said light tan and this soap is a light tannish color. But I like it and I'm happy it didn't stay gray.

Here's the odd thing about all my "mistakes" lately - Everyone on this forum knows how I've always wanted to do bright colored swirls, etc. I whine about it constantly. But I really like the rustic look of Thieves batches especially the one with oatmeal and I like the tan and purplish gray of the Celtic Myst. I used turmeric and paprika in the salt bars I did last Monday and I liked how they turned out. I've been thinking about this and I think my next few batches I'm going to deliberately go for a more rustic, natural look. I've got kelp powder, clay and charcoal. I think it will be fun to try.

As to the fragrance of these two FOs - I'm still not sure about them. I used 1 oz of each for 16 oz oil with 12 oz salt and I still think they're strong smelling. They're very different from what I'm used to using. I generally use citrus, minty, and vanilla type scents. Both smell "fresh" and the Celestial Sea has a bit of a floral scent, IMO.

I'm sorry I can't really describe them. If anyone's interested in sniffies, please PM and I can cut a little off (or crumble a bit off  ) of each and send them in an envelope.

Love the blue in Celestial Sea :0) Hazel I have yet to have a go at making a salt bar. Mmmmmm Moonworks I have only drooled over the fragrances available there do you think I need to order some

Thanks Lyn! I used some blue micas like Caribbean Blue and Blueberry POP but added a little green with Apple Green POP and I think the other color was called Soft Aqua. I don't have my notes near me. My memory is sooo bad.

I don't know if you'd want to order from Moonworks. Wouldn't the shipping be really expensive? On the other hand, they're really strong so you don't have to use as much. They're quite different from anything I've used before and I love the spicier scents. :D

You should make a salt bar batch and they're very easy. I love them!
