Greetings fellow soapers! I am having so much fun with these 100% coconut oil salt bars! I super fat at 20% and use 100% salt. Im buying the cheapo stuff at the grocery, ya know the ones in the round cardboard containers and i am exeriencing so much weeping Im not sure how to label these bad boys? And i am worried that all the weeping will cause the bars to some how be less than awesome.. maybe making them crumbly? not last as long? shrink? explode? implode? who knows with this unchartered territory what could happen?!?! So, I humbly come to those who have soaped and salt bared before me. what say you? is iodine a problem? why? where do you get your (inexpensive, white) salt? how do you deal with weeping, curing and packaging due to the watery weeping wells?
TIA! :-?

#1 it is best to not use salt with iodine. A little is okay, but not the entire batch of salt. I purchase Pacific Sea Salt from San Francisco Bath Salt Company, or from a store in my location called Winco that sells Pacific Sea Salt for $.10 per lb. You can also purchase sea salt from Costco, Sams, Smart & Final, Walmart etc, but it is not the least expensive way to purchase sea salt. Do you live in a humid area? That could be why your bars are weeping badly. I cure my salt bars for 3-6 months then shrink wrap them or put them in containers, unwrapped, with holes punched in the lids. The best salt bars on earth are ones that cure a year. You could try putting a fan on them and see if they stop weeping. If using iodized salt I would list it on the label since there are people allergic to iodine

I don't make salt bars, but I thought sea salt caused weeping or is that just Dead Sea salt?
