Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help. Had a big stuff up, made a double batch of salt soap and forgot to double the lye
Made it yesterday, it's still super soft.
3500g total
90% coconut oil
10% sweet almond oil
900g of salt
Was supposed to be 22.5% super fat and now is 45%!
I've crumbled it up and was thinking of rebatching and adding more lye, but after reading here about it, it doesn't seem a good idea or even possible. Due to the salt and heat, there is the possibility of the glycerine separating, salt will melt and it will curdle.
Any ideas here what I could do with it? I was thinking maybe a scrub or something? Add more salt possibly?
Or add parts into a new batch and use less salt and oils in that batch? But thinking about how to calculate how much of this would replace how much oil - not sure how to do this.
Would hate to see all of the materials being thrown away. Would be very grateful for some suggestions. Thank you!
