Has anyone tried using rose absolute in cp soap? If so, how much do you add? And, the real question, did your finished product smell like rose?
Thanks
Irene

I haven't because it's so pricey. I generally use EO at 3% of oil weight. Even if you used only 1% of your absolute, that would be 5 grams for a 500 gram recipe. I'd prefer to save it for a leave on product, like lotion.

I use geranium EO because it's affordable and my soap comes out very Rosey smelling. Absolute is too pricey for me too.

Rose absolute is a very concentrated essential oil, so if you do use it, I wouldn't use the same amounts as I would for other EOs ...... I've used a 5% or a 10% dilution (available from many suppliers), and that's lovely - so rather than investing in the absolute, you may want to try a dilution first. (The same applies to jasmine absolute.)

I struggled for a while to get a rose-scented soap that I could afford, and I finally stumbled on rose wax. Since I'm in Canada I get it at Saffire Blue, but I'm sure you could find it somewhere close to you. The scent holds, and it's way less expensive than the absolute.

Hmmm, never heard of "rose wax". Thanks for the tip, I will do my research.

I don't waste my rose absolute or rose otto in cp soap. I use fragrance oil, rose geranium or palmarosa essential oils.
