Right now my lip balm recipe uses 25% Avacado and 20% Castor, my friends all swear by it, but I actually find it a bit drying. It seems to be great for daily use but doesn't acutally help heal chapped lips. I'm not sure if it's the high amount Castor or Avacado, or a combination of both. I am thinking of adding Sweet Almond to the recipe, do you think this will help? What other oil would you suggest?

I'm not an expert in this area yet but what hard butters/waxes are you using? I'd think a good lip balm requires bees wax and/or cocoa butter to help "trap" the moisture (create a barrier).

Does that help?

I lowered the amount of caster and added sweet almond to the recipe. It feels really good, I will test for a few weeks though and see how it performs. :)

I'm not huge on castor oil in anything. The highest I will go in a lip balm is 10%. I find it drying and greasy at the same time!
