Hi.. After 3 failures, i finally made my first batch. My question is, how much time do i have to keep it reserved before the soap is ready to use?

Very pretty soaps :) If this cp I'd wait a week at least to test it and then another 4-6 weeks to cure..its hard to do sometimes, but the bars will be so much nicer the longer they cure.

Oh! Another 5weeks then! I really cannot wait!! :D :D
Thanx a lot for your reply :)

One more question, please. Shall i keep my soap to cure in a closed box or oxposed to air?

You can leave them in the open. I cure my soaps on a metal rack lined with needlepoint plastic and once cured I wrap, label and then put them in plastic storage containers with holes poked in them or in Baseball Card storage boxes. You can also cure them in a box lined with paper towel. I like the raspberry boxes from Costco as I can stack those for when I run out of shelf space.

Thank you... i kept them in a covered cartoon box...will go immediately open the lid :D

Make sure you turn them over every 2 weeks or so, that way both sides of your soap gets some good drying (unless you already have holes on the bottom of your container then you don't have to do that-- it's hard to see with the picture lol).

Lovely soaps by the way!

Haha... thanx a lot... actually this is a normal fiber cheese plate it has no halls. :D

but i moved my soaps to a cartoon box... also need to know if this is ok or shall the cartoon absorb the oils in the soap and ruin my dream soap :D

I've heard spraying with alcohol at various intervals prevents ash. Is that true?

If ash is going to form, it will happen during saponification so no need to spritz with alcohol after.

I rarely get ash anymore, and when I do I just leave it unless its really really bad {and mine usually isn't} I soap cool, don't cover, and never spritz with alcohol.

Also, you do not need to turn your soap. I never turn or rotate my soaps as long as air can circulate you should be fine. I cure some in open boxes with holes in the sides with paper towel in the bottem and never have an issue. I just let them do their thing. It takes way too much time to do this, especially if making large quantities like some of us. If it's only a couple bars, go for it if you want but not needed. It would take me a week to turn all my soaps sometimes.

You need to get them out of the box if possible. Just set them on an open shelf somewhere with a paper towel or something under them to protect the finish of the shelf.
