I bought some refined shea from columbus foods a little over a year ago and I was opening it and it smells a bit plastic,, does anybody know the shelf life of refined shea and has anybody had their shea smell like that blue plastic?

I'm just bumping your post. I have shea from Columbus too and don't know how long it will take me to use it. WIll be waiting to hear how long people find it will wait. I have mine in the basement where it's cool and dry, so I'm hoping with good storage it will have a decent life.

i too bought it from columbus foods 1 week prior to christmas, and think mine smells plasticy..or a chemical smell or something as well, i can smell it as soon as I walk in the room where I have it stored....when used in small amounts in soap..no odor comes though, using it in a lotion I can still smell it unless i fragrance it !!!
