Wait for it to cure before judging. A soap makes a miraculous change after week 4 for me.

And yes, lye discount and superfat(as put into lye calculator) are the same thing. True superfat can only be achieved with HP.

What Effy and Susie said -- it's important to not judge a soap until it cures. It really, really does change and usually for the (much!) better. I personally would not tweak a recipe based on how the soap performs right after cutting.
