Hello everyone. I'm a very new in soap making, just did a few batches. Some of them was pretty good, some not... I made a simple soap 4 weeks ago : olive oil 60%; palm oil 20%; coconut oil 20% with 6% superfat. I tried it and it seems like drying my hands a lot, so i decided to rebatch it for the first time. I added 2% of castor oil and some milk and apparently added too much milk, because my soap not drying off for 4 days now. It still has consistency like a jello. Is there any way I can save it, or at list make something different from that?
Thank you very much in advance.

Best thing to do is just sit it aside and let it dry. If you would have let it cure for 8 weeks or more, it probably wouldn't have felt so drying. I can't use any soap that hasn't aged at least 8 weeks, 12 is even better.
Curing is about more then just drying and getting hard. The soap will get milder with age, especially one with so much olive oil in it.

Thank you very much, Obsidian for the advice. I guess I have to learn how to be more patient :)

You should at least be curing your soap 4-6 weeks. It becomes harder and milder in my opinion. It will be more harsh if used when first made. Are you weighing your ingredients (liquids) before adding them to your pot that way you won't have a mishap of too much. I would just give it time but if it's like jello you may need to Hot process it or something.

I have not done this but one tip I read for rebatch that stays soft is to cover it and freeze for 3 hrs then take out and cut. Then let it cure for 3 weeks or more. But you are right the patience thing is difficult.

Making soap is not like making brownies
you can not try the batter while you making it,
you can not try it hot out of the oven (in the mold)
and even if you are patience enough to let it cool on the rack first (like I've heard some people do with brownies) still you can not try it.:-?

I think I better make some Brownies!:-D
