I too prefer lavender FO. I have soaps that are 2 years old made with them, and never had issues.
I wanted to show what happens to buds in MP. These I made a year ago for Christmas, and I have not been making soap, so I can use up what I have. I made a batch of lavender MP, and another one of white tea. I ran out of the lavender one, but I had a couple of bars of the white tea one in which I put dry rosemary herb on top. As you can see they do turn brown. (same thing happens with the lavender buds).
This one is a lavender cold process (the color turned pink, arghhhh) that has buds on top. I made it about 5 months ago. Not bad looking, except for the ugly pink. Not brown when you just place on top as decoration.
