So I may have my first wholesale account. YAY, I am over joyed that all my hard work is starting to pay off just a bit.

I currently sell at farmers markets and I sell my bars for $6.00 each (people pay a flat $6, no additional tax, I pay that. Anyhow I had someone come up to me at the market who requested a meeting with me to discuss selling my soaps in his store.

I planning on telling him my wholesale price per bar is $3 (with a minimum amount of $300 worth of soap to start with).

My question is, do you think his mentality is similar to farmers market folks, where they dont expect sales tax added on or would it be expected of me to tell him $300 plus tax?

Thanks
stacey

Since he is reselling, he will be collecting the tax. Go to your states Dept of Revenue website to see what form you will have to get from him to have on file for not charging him tax.

Thanks so much Mogal for your reply. Its truly appreciated.

Does anyone happen to know what I would need from him since he is collecting the tax? Trying to get through to our Dept of Revenue service here in Illinois is a crap shoot. Sometimes they dont reply at all and when they do, most often they give out wrong information.

Thanks
Stacey

The W9 is not related to this at all. It's something that you might be asked for by a business that pays YOU money.
