Last night I'v made goat milk soap HPOP, substituting water fully with goat milk, which I' didn't before.
First I was froze milk in ice cubes, and than I add a lye, and I keep stirring until all lye was dissolve, actually it was dissolving really slowly and in the and it reaches temperature of 75 F.
I leave it for a while (10 min.) to wait for oils to cool down, than I look at lye/goat milk solutions, and it was like pudding consistency!!!
I panicked, and mix solutions with oils temperature 120F, and they mixed very well!!
After an hour or so, I take it out from the oven, and it wasn't gloppy at all!!!!!
The consistency was like ticker apple sauce, and I was afraid that something bad happened to my soap.
Even after hour of cooling to temperature of 140F was the same!
I added my essential oils and shea superfatt, and poured the mass into the mold.
And this morning the soap is absolutely PERFECT, this is the best soap I have ever made!
And now here is the question!!
What's happened with my soap, what was caused to mass become so workable and pourable?!

I've never done the OP, however I always make full milk CP and HP. I've noticed in HP that mine doesn't always go through all the stages listed in some tutorials. So long as the end product works, it doesn't matter how it got there. Sounds like you did everything right, so good job!

Goats milk

Hi!

The fat in the milk saponified from the lye and as the solutions cooled down, it became your "pudding consistency"!

My HP soaps with milk, take less time and less heat to finish and they smell so good, like caramel.... :D

I always do full goats milk in all of my batches - HP and CP. After mixing in the lye it does thicken and is always cool. Never had any problems when mixing with my oils. I try to soap as close to room temperature as possible.

Sometimes I sit the container with my lye mixture right in the pot of oil while preparing for my FO and molds so they are as close as possible for temperature.

I did this last nite and my daughter and DH both asked if I was baking muffins, it was the soap! I didnt have a scent in it either. I almost freaked the first time it skipped thru stages, I bet its wonderful!
