I have always been interested in making my own body and laundry soap, now I am going to do it!
I have a Canadian source for pure sodium carbonate. Queensville Farm Supply sells it bulk for $.60 per lb (shipping and handling extra) * deleted spammy link * Looking forward to being apart of this forum!

"I have"? Or "I am"???

And I use sodium hydroxide for soapmaking. Not sodium carbonate.
 
sodium carbonate is not useful for making toiletries. you may be thinking sodium bicarbonate which is used in making toothpaste and deodorants. mixed with citric acid, one can make a pleasant fizzing bath bomb.
