So I sat down and did some math today, I figured I'd post my math so that someone else that hadn't done the math yet wouldn't have to do it (can you tell I love math?)~

So my Germall finally got here, and I'm making some lotion - starting with 1 lb since that's probably the smallest amount I can accurately measure... my scale doesn't do decimals, so I measure everything in grams rather than ounces.

According to MMS, liquid Germall needs to be .1-.5% of the product by weight (only above .2% if using high protein materials). So if I'm making 1 lb lotion, that is 454 grams lotion. 0.1%, that is .45 g Germall/pound lotion.

My scale does not measure decimals... so, the weight of Germall is 1200 g/L, or 1.2g/mL. This means that my .45g Germall = .375 mL. 1 mL = 20 drops, so .375 mL = 7.5 drops.

Thus, you need 7.5 drops liquid Germall per pound lotion to equal 0.1%. Note this is only for Germall, I don't know what the concentration recommended is for other preservatives. And I realize that "drops" isn't the most exact measurement out there, but it's the best I can do.

If someone notices any blatant errors in my math, let me know... chemistry was not my favorite class, lol.
