Do you disovle TKB's Pop Micas for CP Soap in oil or in water? :/ Tried in water last time and got no pretty colors.

I don't know what other folks do but I'll share what I do which has worked for me so far.

Once I have all my oils mixed together I put a little bit of pop mica in a large glass measuring cup (if I'm going to do several colors for a swirl then I separate into seperate cups). Then I take about 1Tbsp. directly from my oils and mix it with each color...mix well. Then I proceed to add the lye water to the oils and bring to trace. Once at trace I put the soap, however much you need for each color, into each glass cup and mix well. This has worked for me on several occasions and I get lovely colors. Here's a pic of some of my recent soaps:

Have fun and good luck!

Hi Sibi :) Thanks so much for your reply .. that helped me a lot. If it worked for you, i hope its going to work for me too.

Your soaps are super pretty!! love them!

Im with Sibi on that one, do the same......I also bought little coffee frothers to mix the micas with great as you dont have to worry about cleaning your stick blender and they mix them in well :)

geez, why didn't I think of the coffee frothers! they have those super cheap at ikea! great idea, thanks you guys!

Tasha, you'll love them!
I've got three now, and always on the lookout for more, cos if you're doing different colours you'll want one for every colour.
They're great for all small mixing jobs, oxides, ultramarines, mica's, clays, everything!!

Using pop mica's...

I know this is an older thread but it really relates to my question so I thought I’d follow up on from this topic….
I’m getting ready to order some more colorants and thought I’d try the Pop Mica’s, since seeing some really nice swirls etc by member on this Forum, Sibi in particular. My last colorants were a Liquid Color Sampler from TKB and their ok but I wasn’t real happy with some of the results from using them. Can some of you give me your favorite source on ordering Pop Mica’?
Thanks...
Jerry S

They actually don't make pop micas anymore. I have Brambleberry neons on my list of things to try next.

They said on their website that they couldn't get them from their supplier anymore but were working on getting some sort of replacement product. I have ordered alot of their pigments and I love them. I do both CP and M&P soaps but for the most part I like to keep my CP as natural as possible. That being said I go wild with the colors in my M&P.

When you say their pigments, did you mean there Mica's or all of their products including the liquid colorants? Is there anyone else out there that makes a comparable Mica to what TKB used to have or do we wait until they get a replacement?
Jerry

I have used a lot of their pigments that are skin safe. I haven't used their pigments that have the dye in them but that are the oxides and micas. I use the liquid ones that are suspended in glycerine for the M&P and they work awesome and it saves me the mixing. I have never wanted to use the dyes that are the Lake variety as I think the oxides are more natural. Even though I know they aren't but a lot more than the Lakes or Lab colors. Now some that I use for the M&P are not stable in CP but I keep my CP real natural anyways so I haven't tried them.

There was a somewhat recent post here concerning pop mica replacements. I believe the vendor was the Cobservatorie? I can't link it from my phone, but I can tonight if no one finds it!

Using pop mica's...

Great job newbie doing that comparison…it really shows pretty much the difference between the two….cthylla…thanks for drumming up the blog so to speak…so does anyone know when the original TKB is going to start back with the mica’s from their new source?
