Made an emulsified sugar scrub this am & I toatally spaced on sterilizing my mixing vessels & spatula. My jars are sterile & I used bottled distilled water & mixed in my Optiphen..................what do you think? Did I screw up so badly that I have to toss my scrub?
I mean everything was clean , It was quite a large batch.

for my neighbour & some co workers
Hey Lindy my mom lives in Gibsons & ran out of the soap I made for her, she says she can no longer use a commercial bar after using my soap, It makes her skin dry & itchy now. Do you know where she can get some handmade Cold pour soap in a pinch until my soap delivery arrives or if she runs out again, are you near Gibsons?

It's a low water activity system, so as long as you used clean ingredients and used your preservative properly (following mfg instructions) then you should be fine.

For stuff to grow, it needs available water. In systems (products) that are high in salt or sugar, the water is tied up or so highly saturated
with salt or sugar that it's not free to promote growth. Like jam, or better yet, honey.

ETA: in products where water is likely to be introduced, like scrubs, you STILL DO need a preservative. The new water can change the water activity, especiallyninterested localized areas. ESP if it's a sugar scrub!!!
