I bought some plastic molds to try to make my soaps a little neater (vs my terrible cutting skills - even with my new cutter!) and now I'm having problems getting the soap OUT of the molds! I tried popping them in the freezer but now everything is just sweating all over the place. I poured some excess batter into my little silicone heart molds (for my bath bombs, because I didn't want to waste it) and the pink color of the mold blead (sp?) into my soap! Any ideas on how to make the experience of the plastic (and hopefully even the silicone) molds easier?!

When you take it out of the freezer, dip the bottom in some hot water for 30 seconds or so. The soap should slide right out.

You can wash the silicone molds in the washing machine with like colors a couple of times, or in the dishwasher. You could also try sitting them out in the bright sun to fade the color out of them.

Thank you! I made bath bombs in a similar mold, but these babies are new and I never even thought about the age of the molds and color bleeding. :) They've been through the dishwasher, but only once. I'll toss them in with every load and see how that fares.

Really? Am I reading this right? Wash the silicone molds in the washing machine you use for clothes? Or do you mean the dishwasher? I've put mine in the dishwasher...

She says in washing machine with like colors or in the dishwasher, lol. IMO, in the washer would be like washing something like a heavy duty rug...

Yes, you read it right - the washing machine typically used for clothes. They're soft and the agitation helps a lot.

Sweating is normal when the soap comes out of the freezer. Just leave it alone for a few hours and it will all be absorbed back into the soap. If it's just teeny droplets, you can blot them, but it's best to just let it dry for 6 hours or so.

I only use individual plastic molds. I let mine set in the molds for 24-48 hours dependin on the formula. I find that I have to pull the edges away from the soap to get them to release and them I push them from the bottom. Sometimes I do have to put them in the freezer. I also use a water discount and do a full gel.
I love the way the soaps look in the individual molds but the only thing is it is useless to do fancy swirles.
