For those that sell or have blogs, do you mind when people (ahem, like me) pin your soap pics? I was pinning a bunch of beautiful pictures from someone's site but then wondered if that would be:

A. Considered Rude
B. Free Advertising
C. Depends on the Purpose

There are so many gorgeous soaps out there. I would assume if a site has Pinterest buttons, they are encouraging folks to use them.

I would not want to offend anyone...

People post pics to share them, Pinterest is a place to share images, I should think most people would be pleased (unless someone is making fun, or something horrid like that). And if people don't want their images shared, there are ways to prevent it.

I'm saying "B" also.

I have a blog that I started after I had ankle surgery, and it has some gross pics on it, so I don't have the automatic "pin" linked up to my page because, well, who's gonna really want to pin that stuff? LOL But, I do have a Creative Commons license on it...which means that people can share my stuff, but not for profit and they can't alter it in any way (many blogs have this Creative Commons thing posted on their site...mine is on the bottom and on my disclaimer page). I wouldn't mind if people pinned my pictures...there is nothing on my public blog that I haven't put there!

If I ever added pics of my soaps, I'd be honored if someone pinned it to their "pretty soaps" pinterest page :D

Thanks everyone! My daughter mentioned that maybe people wouldn't like me posting *every* photo from their sites. She has mastered the guilt-look. Gah! It gets me every time.

:) I'd have a nice lil' smile waiting for any daughter who tried to guilt me out of pinning (currently childless). I know I have spent too many hour repinning pics of food, drinks, soap, knits, etc., but that's the point of pinterest. If I had bothered to reopen my account... game over!

If nobody else complained and if it does not interfere with your everyday activities like an addiction would, then keep pinning!

I use Pinterest as a place to store inspiration photos. I think that's its purpose ... it even automatically links back to the site you got it from. The assumption is that it is not your work...
