i made some beautiful pink grapefruit swirl soap a few weeks ago. i used pink grapefruit eo and they smelled GREAT! now, a few weeks down the road, they barely have any scent at all! :( i recall hearing that citrus does fade, but is there anything i can do to keep it around? it smelled so great before......would dumping in more help, or should i be adding something else to give it staying power????

This happened to my Lemon EO soap too. It was a total bummer cause it was AWESOME. But I did read that citrus fades......Sucks...... :(

If you want a good citrus that holds, I'm sorry to say you will have to work with the evil SYNTHETICS or compounded fragrances.

Despite all we can do to "anchor" scents, these anchors aren't all that effective and they do impact the character of the scent.

Drag.

I've been using 1/3 Lemongrass and 2/3 tangerine or grapefruit. It seems to work OK. Adding some sweet basil is nice, too.

If I blend a combination of citrus scents + litsea cubeba or lemongrass it sticks . I have a lime blend almost a year old , the scent is still as fresh , also made a citrus splash blend about 6 mos ago , it is fine . I use castor oil in citrus batches , it is said to help anchor the scent too.
