Cheers
Hello WillZ actually this recipe looks very nice. Thanks .
My main Q is, what is proper Pine Tar that i can use
I can find only Pine Tar like this https://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/Gold-La...MImZSl5_aP2wIVxbTtCh0NxQOYEAQYBCABEgKrDPD_BwE
And
https://www.viovet.co.uk/Lincoln-St...MImZSl5_aP2wIVxbTtCh0NxQOYEAQYDSABEgJ7p_D_BwE
And i'm not sure is it right one or not

It is the stuff for horse hooves. A lot of folks here like the Bickmore brand, which is available on Amazon.uk but only in what looks like a gallon bucket, vs a 12 oz or so container. Still might be worth checking out. Those two brands look okay to me, but they are not ones I'm familiar with. Make sure the ingredients say pine tar.

You can use 10-20 percent pine tar, I find 10% to be enough.

It will make your soap batter hit trace almost instantly.
I recommend hand stirring in the lye solution and pour as soon as it starts to thicken.
You won't have a ton of time so don't dwaddle. If you are adding scent, add it to the oils before the lye

Alex, in answer to your question directed at Lindy in the older thread (about what kind of pine tar she uses), Lindy always bought hers from a local farm supply store....oh, and I ran across a post where she said she uses it at 5% in her shampoo bars.

Here's my thought, which is probably irrelevant here since I do Hot Process when I make pine tar soap, and you are probably doing CP. The recipe on the Nerdy Farm Wife is 75% liquid oil. My bars seem to stay a little on the soft and sticky side for several months if I go over 55% liquid oils including the pine tar. I also use quite a bit more pine tar -- up to 30%. That is likely the reason for my soft, sticky pine tar soap! :) My son's skin gets dry and itchy during the winter, and that high pine tar soap does wonders for him after one shower. Lotions don't help much, but the strong pine tar soap sure does. I tried it firsts at 20% and then 25%, but 30% is what works for him.

I really like making this soap using hot process. It does trace faster than most soaps, but since it is in the crock pot and going to cook, it's not a problem. I generally use a little sodium lactate after the cook, and some yogurt if it is too stiff to plop into the mold nicely. I like the rustic "old fashioned" look.

Since I use so much pine tar, the scent (which I think is heavenly!) is quite strong, so I don't bother with adding a fragrance or essential oil. I think it would be a waste in this, but folks who use less pine tar often scent it nicely.

In the UK you are not allowed to use pine tar unless you have it certified

is there any one from UK . i think that generally certificate is necessarily to be able to sale home made soaps , not only if PINE TARE is applied.
