I thought I saw a post about this here somewhere but can't find it. I have some natural rosin/sap that I harvested from a pinon tree. Very sticky stuff, but very aromatic. I put it in some distilled water and simmered it for awhile. Lots of oily residue on the surface of the water now. I'm wondering if I can use this water (strained) for my lye mixture and add the little chunks of rosin to it too, then strain it to add to my oils for CP soap? Has anyone done that before?

If you want to use the resin in CP soap making, you need to do an oil infusion with the sap. Dissolving it in water, IMO, would not be the best way to go. Also keep in mind that the resin infused oil will speed up the trace.

I recommend doing a google search for more information because there is a lot of good information when I did the search.
