I have been looking online for a good list or chart explaining PH levels in liquid soap bases.

Example....this level is best for liquid facial soaps

This level is best for liquid laundry soaps

This level is best for liquid dishwashing soaps

ect.

Anyone have any good info or links they could share?

I found one link that mentioned ph levels but only vaguely.

I don't have specifics, but will tell you that skin is naturally a bit acidic actually - but soaps (true soaps) are quite alkaline. Fortunately the skin rebounds quickly and is back to its acidic self in no time. You cannot make a neutral or acidic SOAP. For that you would have to go with a detergent product (fine, but not soap!).

Commercial dish dtgts are quite alkaline even though it's detergent and could be neutral if they wanted it that way - in fact the stuff for dishwashers is downright caustic.

laundry soap - well the commercial stuff is detergent and most are 7-9 if they contain enzymes. Not sure about the non-enzymatic ones though. In theory - neutral = gentle but in reality I don't think that is necessarily a good thing since it also means gentle on stains. For natural fabrics (wool & silk) then neutral is best - but for regular stuff and cotton then alkaline is just fine.

Thanks. I have a basic knowledge of it. But was hoping someone has a chart or lsit of sorts...for specific ph levels to aim for...for specific liquid soaps.

Thanks!

Sorry that post was so short. My attention became severly averted all of a sudden. Kids. Your advice is greatly appreciated, Carebare! I will definitely keep it in mind! Like you mentioned...anything I have read talks about 7-9 being a good level to aim for, in general.

Well, my cat won't quit trying to get into the kitchen cabinets! I swear she has fingers, not paws! And I should be in bed, anyhow. LOL

Thanks A Bunch!
