Yesterday I was talking with my sister about making soap. Yes...it's become an addiction already and I haven't even made my first bar yet :) Anyways, she gave me these little perfume bottles that she picked up on a vacation and wanted me to put this scent into some soaps.

Can this be done?

I don't think so. Perfume is less than 20% scent with the rest being some sort of alcohol (usually) which will cause some issues with soaping.

If you really want to, go over to basenotes.net and have a look at what scents make up the perfume and mix a dupe, or even see if an FO dupe is available to buy.

Nope.
a) Alcohol causes soap to seize.
b) Lye is a beast. Scents need to be specially formulated to survive it.

That being said, there's a good chance you can find a duplicate of the scent in an FO (fragrance oil) formulated for CP soap. What's the perfume? These dupes are usually labled "type". As in "Autumn Leaves - Yankee Candle type".

Thanks guys. That's what I figured but I just wanted to make sure before I told her no.

It's some funky fragrance she picked up in Florida. Smells awful. I don't even know why she would want to replicate it, but she does. That's my crazy sister.

Depending on how bad she wants this, you could suggest she visit a Yankee Candle store and/or a Bath & Body Works, smell things and if there is one that is close, you could look for that dupe.

You might be able to try it in a M&P soap base. Try a quality base vs the garbage Michaels sells. Bulk Apothecary and Wholesale Supplies Plus sell quality bases and they are close; (Ohio) to you. Even though I primarily do CP and HP, I do love the artistry and immediate satisfaction of M&P. A good M&P base can tolerate a little bit of additives. The melting point is also low 125-130 degrees, so her perfume may survive. A few pounds to experiment with won't break the bank either. I would suggest 3-5% mixed into a tablespoon of kaolin clay per pound base and added at the lowest temp where you can still pour the soap into a mold. - (Just before the soap starts to thicken back up again).
