Peppermint Soap "tingling"...

Very much this. No one recieves a soap from a recipe that I haven't personally tested. That includes changes to additive, scent and so on

That's what I usually do, but I had to rush to get gifts out. I tested it on my hands and noticed nothing. It was the full body wash later on that showed the problem. Honestly, though, the tingle feels pretty good and it's very mild, so I'd be surprised if anyone has issues with it. We'll see!

LOL I laugh because those are the exact same thoughts that I had when I tried out my very first peppermint soap full-body. I personally love using my peppermint soap and find it to be very refreshing, especially on a hot summer's day. My ex-bil was a huge fan of it, too, but hubby and my son? Yikes! Not so much. lol Like I said earlier, it is known as The Evil Soap to them. Hopefully your recipients will all like it as much as you and I and others do, but just in case, be on the lookout for random bars of flying peppermint soap coming at you. lol

believe it or not, i have a customer who LOVEESSSS peppermint. she recently ordered some betel leaf soap, which was meant as a feminine soap, and she requested... yep... peppermint EO (3%)!

i told her about the tingling issue, but she was adamant about it... oh well.. i guess we shall see..

Hubby loves this Peppermint & Tea Tree Soap I make - and it tingles, but it doesn't...like....hurt... lol..\
(but yes, totally normal for it to ....tingle.)

I find it too cooling (especially in the winter... I HATE getting out of a nice hot shower and then getting cold!) But in the summer, it's nice

Umm... I used to make my rosehip soap with this Rose Fragrance Oil - and I had my tester ladies come back hating it...it's the only thing I've changed in that recipe - so I do believe that particular Rose Fragrance Oil I had at the time caused some....discomfort.

Hello! I remember when I began studying to make soap that Peppermint was something to be careful with. There was a humorous article in a soapmaking journal about a soapmaker who loved to make highly scented soap. She had made a batch of peppermint soap and she and her husband decided to try it out together in the shower. It was fun for a little while but the sensitivity went nuclear and they were fighting over water to get rid of it. Lesson learned FAST.

I use peppermint EO at the low end of the percentage spectrum but also combine it with a little Sinus Relief EO (contains a blend of eucalyptus, camphor and mint) and some pine FO. Surprisingly, the peppermint is 'maginified' but does not have any tingling.

Although we tend to fear making and selling tingly peppermint soap I saw one soapmaker at a holiday craft fair, before Thanksgiving, selling her holiday version of it. In fact, she had two versions: one called "Tingle Bells" colored green and had (maybe) silver mica embedded within it and the other was called "Tingle-all-the-way!" which was red and white striped - like a candy cane. She bragged that her soap bar labels were deemed border-line "por**graphic" by the craft fair organizers which made her giggly audience even more interested. The 'Tingle Bells' pictured silver bells with overly big clappers and the "Tingle-all-the-way" soap had a modified Leonardo da Vinci's 'Vitruvian Man' in a Santa's hat with a surprised look on his face. She told her audience that her peppermint soap was sure to - quote - "get their men in the holiday spirit". My first thought (after my horrified imagination settled down) was "or get them into the ER and later into divorce court." I overheard one young lady next to me tell her friend she was going to buy a bar for her fiancee and I flat-out told her not to do it. I explained my carefully worded "being a male" reasons. She thanked me repeatedly for the warning. The things people do and make......

Its one things giving your opinion on anything and another to coercer someone into your own belief; that is quite a different story.
Its a good thing to know that we can make light of our craft. How boring it would be to have a sales pitch that puts people to sleep. I make peppermint and never has anyone complained that it burns, women that have issues with certain "heat" in certain places love the peppermint. That is my "being a female" reasons.

My formula certainly leaves a sensation, but it's not unpleasant...just feels little "extra clean" for a few minutes. I do understand it can be quite uncomfortable for the ladies. I usually mix peppermint with rosemary and/or lemongrass. I'd think peppermint as the only EO at 1 ml per pound would leave a lasting memory.
