I've been searching the web for a cold process peppermint (or just mint) soap recipe but I'm not coming up with anything so far. Well, I should say I found a recipe, but it looks like it makes a lot of soap. And since The Everything Soapmaking Book suggests I stick with small batches to start ... I want to stick with small batches to start.

Anyways. I'm very eager to make my second batch of soap and I want to try a minty one. Can anyone share a recipe with me or point me in the right direction? I spent some time on the soap calc today as well, but I'm not quite ready to use that yet. I have a lot of learning to do before I get there (and can't wait to get there!). I was hoping to put in a soap supply order today or tomorrow to get my ingredients.

Can anyone help me out with a minty recipe?

You don't need any particular recipe to do a minty soap. Be aware that peppermint eo can give a tingly sensation if you use too much. Someone else can probably give a guideline on that, not sure what it is Ppo.

I love mint, great to mix with chocolate!

I make a peppermint/spearmint soap with poppyseeds. It was the only soap that I would use until I caved in with lavender. It's also my top seller. Anyways, with EO's, I personally use .25oz for a 1.3lb oil batch. I've been debating on increasing it in a personal batch to see just how tingly I can get it (I'm a freak, I admit), but this amount is just right for sales... Nobody has told me that it's too strong or not enough. :) So try adding about 1/3oz mint EO PPO.

I'm trying to work out the same thing. Any guesses on how far you could go before it becomes...uncomfortable, based on how it feels at the moment?

On top of using peppermint EO, you could use mint infused oils, or use peppermint tea for water

I love tingly things too. When I use to frequent tanning salons I would always use a lotion that caused intense tingling (however, it was from niacan and not menthol)

I'm no professional, but I'd guess you could at least double it. Mine's not really tingly, IMO. Just a nice chill feeling. I've used other products for other, more sensitive areas that were far, far more tingly, to the point that the boyfriend claimed it burned... If you can put that much tingle into a product for sensitive areas, you should be able to put more into a product for the rest of your body.

I use 2.5% (of total weight of oils) of peppermint or mint oils without any tingling being felt anywhere in the body.
Bettacreek, according to my calculations you are using less than 1% . hope this helps
