I recently ordered several different FO's from Peak. So far I've only soaped with three of them, and I'm currently trying out my 3-week old bars in the shower. My sense of smell is a bit skewed due to chronic sinus issues, so I need a little help here from others who've tried these FO's in CP soap!

Wild Mountain Honey - I love this one...smells like honey to me on the curing rack and in the shower!

Patchouli!Patchouli! - this one has a strong scent on the curing rack, but in the shower I smell very little, and what I do smell is more of a cedar fragrance...not patchouli at all.

Eucalyptus Leaf - when I added this FO at trace it had a nice eucalyptus (medicinal) scent that has faded a bit as it cured, but still nice. When I used it in the shower, the first thing that came to my mind was "Glade" furniture polish...not quite what I was aiming for, LOL!

And I was also a little surprised that none of the scent from the soaps lingered on my skin at all after showering. The soaps I made using Brambleberry FO's left a distinctive scent that I could still smell hours later!

Is this the norm for Peak's FO's? Please share your experiences!!!

Of the three you listed, I've soaped only one, which was the Honey. I found it remarkably accurate and strong, but I had two other people who smelled it "blind" and thought it was lilac, which makes me wonder how much our expectations affect what we experience. At any rate, mine is still too young to be showering with me, but the scent remains strong.

I've had pretty good luck overall with Peak. Some of the scents seem very light, even with 1 ounce ppo, but figuring out how much you need to get what you want is part of the game.

Go to the peak sampler thread that is currently near the top and look for a link to a spreadsheet that some soapers developed - around page 6 or 7 in the thread. Lots of information there!

GREAT link...Thanks!!
I'm still curious about the lack of a lingering scent on my skin after using soap with Peak's FOs...
I don't wear perfume (as a health-care worker, I don't want to make my patients feel worse by wearing a strong scent), but I DO like to smell nice in a very subtle way...When I use the soaps I make with BB FO's, I catch a whiff of the scent now and then through the day, and my patients often ask what perfume I'm wearing...they say I smell good! I consider this a HUGE compliment, since a lot of them are feeling absolutely horrible at the time...
Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this? Why do BB scents linger and Peak's don't?

I dont know of many soaps that the scent lingers. Ive use bb and not had that happen.
I adore peaks, the ones that do linger that I can think of IS honey and black canyon.
If you love scent, even a light one, maybe buy a lotion base( wsp has awesome ones) and add light frag?

I find I have to adjust my opinion, which I posted earlier. Yesterday I went to my racks and I went over all the soaps I've made with my Peak samples and have found several are gone, some have become fairly chemical smelling and I just had another one rice a batch. I found myself reluctant to grab the one I made tonight, but the colors I wanted to use went well with the scent but alas... ruined. I haven't had this number of problems with the other suppliers I've used. Others experiences?

I've never had a problem with Peak fo's, maybe I've just been lucky but I've used several of their fragrances and they've all been excellent.

Not all of them have been busts, but a higher proportion than I'd expected have been. Perhaps some are better for candles than soaps, but I'll keep trying them out.

One of the more curious and fascinating things that I've learned in my years of CP soaping and working with FOs is how the scent receptors in our noses work and how it's possible to smell the same exact things differently from someone else, or even from our own selves depending on what scents our noses are saturated with at any given time, or if we are having sinus troubles, etc.... It's a really interesting study to do.

Because of how quirky our scent receptors can be at times, I've found that it is best to never judge a scent in CP soap too early on in the game.
For example, I have some FOs that make my freshly-made CP soap smell like the chemicals in a permanent wave for hair, but usually by 3 weeks (thankfully), those particular scents finally get around to smelling like they are supposed to smell.

With other scents, it seems like the smell totally disappears while the soaps are on my curing rack, but then they come back like gangbusters later.

Then I have other scents that smell pretty light in my soap when the soap is high & dry and not being used, but once I'm showering with it, WOW! It blooms magnificently in the shower, but then it goes back to a more humble, understated state whenever dry. White Peach from ScentWorks does this to me (I love that scent).

Don't be too concerned if the scent doesn't seem to linger on your skin long after bathing with your soap. To my nose, none of mine linger except for maybe 2. I use a variety of different FOs from a variety of vendors, and I've found that the problem is not so much vendor specific as it is smell receptor specific. A case in point- even though I can't really smell any lingering scent on me from my soaps, I have some friends that use my soap who praise my soap for how long the scents linger on their skin. Go figure! It seems to be hit or miss with different people, which I attribute to how individually our scent receptors work.

I only have one of Peak's FOs- Sweet Pea. It just so happens to be one of the very few that I can sense lingering on my skin. Mineral Water Spa rom Daystar is another one.

Ive had a very good experiences with peak, they are my favorite. I have some that I soaped a year ago, still smell. Irish is so right in what she said.
