Yep. Palm kernel oil is a solid oil so sometimes it comes in flake form.

Yes, they are very easy to use, much more than chiseling rock hard stuff out of the container. I do find that it speeds trace a bit more than coconut oil.

Do you mean local things sold by farms like eggs? I've never seen tallow or lard sold outside of Walmart's brand of shortening with those both in it.

really? Maybe its just were i live.. i havent found a store were there isnt Manteca Lard. And i collect my own tallow.

Thanks everybody for the input on PKO flakes.
Going to try my first batch of CP next week while I wait for the PKO flakes to arrive. Not a fan of having to order supplies but I'm unable to find much in the Okalhoma City area.
