In the first batch I believe I probably over blended a bit. Second batch I didn't. Same spots in both instances.I think the difference is that she soaped at 80 degrees AND using an accelerating fragrance AND said she over-stick-blended. Lots going on there.

I responded on the other thread. I doubt it is the palm unless it is a bad batch that is contaminated with something. If you are brave enough, you can taste the spots to see if they are sweet. If so, it's the honey. If not, then it's probably the FO.Same here.
I wrote to the company as well since this really threw me. Im pretty certain it's the FO since it did smear on a few when cut. Just not sure why it didn't incorporate/ why separated.
One thought was the palm shortening. Plan to soap with palm shortening again tomorrow with a different floral FO and see what happens. bB Lilac had no issues, just slight acceleration. Odd.
Yup, definitely not sweet Lol! I think you are right in that the FO had a reaction when CPOPed. Do you think with time the dots will disappear? Looking at your photo again, it looks more like honey speckles. It’s important to thin out the honey, or it won’t incorporate well.I just bought this palm shortening and used it for the first time. Same recipe I always use, just subbed the palm oil with the shortening. It's the strangest thing, but there are little brown dots all over the soap. I suspected that it was the lilac fragrance oil but was told that it might be the shortening. Did you ever encounter this issue? Was told that shortenings contain additives and chemicals but the box says 100% palm oil. ??? Stumped over here.
Another member suggested that awhile back so I've thinned it out with water and heated it a bit so the honey is more like a water substance when I pour it now. Been using that method without fail for a bit and haven't had this happen. It incorporates into the batter beautifully. Another member suggested tasting it and the dots arent sweet at all.Looking at your photo again, it looks more like honey speckles. It’s important to thin out the honey, or it won’t incorporate well.
I don’t think they would taste sweet after going through saponification. But they do look speckled.Another member suggested that awhile back so I've thinned it out with water and heated it a bit so the honey is more like a water substance when I pour it now. I have soaped with Palm shortening in 50lb cubes for years and never had an issue. They usually only add Citric acid and or BHT to help flavor and rancidity.I just bought this palm shortening and used it for the first time. Thank you for your response. Curious, in soap calc do you register the palm shortening as palm oil or as crisco new with palm? I bought First Street brand and thought I had read somewhere in here that it has a different SAP value. I appreciate your input. I'm going to call that store and find out where their shipments come in from. I hadn't considered that before. (Update, they get product from outside LA, CA.)It could be a combination of a number of things...you're using a new FO and a new ingredient from a grocery store (not that there is anything bad about that, I get my Olive and Coconut Oils from Costco). There has also been changes in the weather across the country.
I use Lilac from Rustic Escentuals and have never had an issue with it. I usually soap between 80F-84F and I use 20% Palm Oil in my recipe. I've never used honey. I'm not soaping this week because we are having unusually cold weather.
