When you grow organic your crops are not as hardy either beacuse you are not using the 'miracle grow' type products. Smaller yields per acre will push your price up also.

Are the individuals using the organic soaps concerned that the ingredients that are not organic can harm them in some way (ie: cancer), or is it for envionmental purposes (such as organic palm oil).

One of the aspects of organic livestock farming (and bees fall into that category) is the absence of antibiotic use on the animals to be harvested. Bees are no different. It's not uncommon for commercial hive producers to treat their bees with antibiotics to prevent various potential diseases. So in that context, yes, bees can be raised organically. There is organic honey, therefore there can also be organic beeswax since both are manufactured by the bees (unless a wax base is offered to the bees to promote honey production over hive creation).

Would you have to keep your farm netted so the bees could not leave & take nectar from your neigbors non-organic flowers?

Just curious.

Over here, we can't label something as organic as long as it hasn't been assessed by the people from the EKO quality mark. When they carry the stamp of that mark the product is 100% organic and they are allowed to call it organic.
Nature&Nurture is right about the absence of hormones & medicine, but there's more. The beekeeper should remove weeds in his field manually, he should plant flowers with a high resistancy to diseases, use organic fertilizers, no pesticides, he should provide a safe environment for wildlife and improve or keep the natural environment, he should use his land in a sustainable way and keep it fertile.
Over here the bee population is shrinking rapitly because of all the pesticides 'normal' farmers use. That could become a huge problem!
Certified organic soap goes for about 2-3 euro over here... I could not even compete with that!
