I have 2 silicone molds that make cute little Christmas trees & snowmen. For Christmas, I would like to make a soap in my loaf mold & then decorate my bars by "glue-ing" my trees & snowmen to the front/top of the bar after it's been cut. Does anyone know how I can make my decorations stick permanently to the bar? I would hate to give them as gifts & then have the decorations fall off when my family & friends try to use them! Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

What I would do is make the trees and snowmen first and unmold them. When you make the loaf soap embed them on top while the soap is still soft. Then make sure your soap gels thoroughly and you should be good to go!

I have never done this, though. Maybe someone else will chime in with more tips and tricks. :)

I would do as Cosmo said. I'd also spritz the trees & snowmen with a little bit of water before embedding them in top. When they're wet, they seem to stick in their better.

Are they big trees & snowmen? If so, then maybe you could embed them in the middle of the loaf instead.

No, the molds (trees & snowmen) don't look very big. I just measured them, they are 1 1/2-2 inches tall & 1 1/2 inches wide. I thought about sticking them in the soap batter, but I'm not sure how I'd cut the bars so that they would be guaranteed to show on the outside of the bar. Can I spritz them & stick them into the front of the bar when the soap is firm enough to unmold & slice? Or what about bath melts? I've never made them before but would my little molds be a good size for something like that? Thanks again for your help!

I honestly don't think the embeds would stick to an already cut bar. I think your soap would have to gel around the embed to get it to stick. I've never tried bath melts, but they sound like a good size to me!

I was able to stick these hearts into freshly-cut bars of HP; not sure if it would work for bigger embeds, but the hearts adhered fine:

Thanks Soapcakes! That looks better than what I was trying to do! Did you just press them in by hand, or did you have to lightly pound them in?

That's awesome soapcakes! I really didn't think it would work. Just goes to show you don't know unless you try! :)

You might try making the embeds first and then lay them in individual bar molds and pour the soap over that. You can find silicone molds for individual bars at most soap supply sites.

Thanks everyone! I plan to make my Christmas soaps tomorrow. I'll try to post pictures when they're done! :D
