wait! I was looking at the abbreviations and do you use plain olive oil, evoo or? I never really thought about it and grabbed evoo.

(Tired of me yet?)

you can use any olive oil. evoo is more expensive, of course, and can impact the color of the soap if it's very green.

ok good. I'll look. I did look at the prices and I got the biggest cheapest bottle but i'm going to look for cheaper alternatives. I have kept all my receipts to look at that aspect more closely.

Thanks :)

if that was the cheapest then you absolutely need to search the bottle for fine print saying something like "blend" because sometimes EVOO is blended with canola or soy which they don't exactly feature on the label.

oooo I'm gonna look. I say it was the cheapest big bottle but it was still like 15$.

Gonna go look. Man I'm glad you guys are here!

edit: I checked, ingredients = evoo and that's it. Looked all over and didn't see anything else.

evoo is awesome in soap... I dont find that it affects the color as much but i can detect it subtly in smell.

EVOO has a higher proportion of unsaponifiables (molecules that do not turn to soap)...these unsaponifiable molecules serve to both superfat and give your recipe just a bit more nutrient value (which for soap doesnt mean a WHOLE lot since its a wash-off product...)...the amount might be extremely trivial, but IMO its beneficial, though costly.

I think you 'll find that soapers choose the ingredients that THEY like the best... so find out what works best for you and what you like the most and then use your creativity to make an amazing bar of soap!! :)

hope that helps ya!
