The Entry thread for the November 2024 SMF Soap Challenge, Hello Yellow!, is now open!

As a reminder, this entry thread is for challenge entries only. All comments or non-entry photos should be posted to the general challenge thread:

The first photo in your entry thread post will be used as the entry photo for voting. The photo must include two bars from the same batch. Here we go.
I created a goat milk soap with carribbean blue, sage green, yellow, buttercup, and sparkling snowflake micas. The snowflake was used to lighten up the buttercup to a lighter yellow despite looking orange at first! The yellows made up 50% of the batter with the other two colors evenly split for the other 50%. I used a slab mold which I had only used one other time but couldn't decide how I wanted to cut it to best see the patterns. So...I cut the slab in half and cut one section into smaller bars and the other side was rotated 90 degrees and cut again that way which revealed the swirls. The bars look like ocean waves breaking over on the beach side while the other cut shows the swirls (and all kinds of faces ). The scent is a mix of sage, rosemary, and grapefruit essential oils - heavy on the sage.

View attachment 1000009718.jpgThis was created with Nurture Handmade Soap colors, Love and Sunshine Mica with TD to lighten it(combo@ 56%), yellow vibrance [email protected]%, yellow [email protected]%, celadon green& lime a peel Mica @14.5% combined. The flowers are Cornflower blue enviroglitter and Caribbean blue. The bees are yellow vibrance and activated charcoal, they are painted with water& black onyx enviroglitter to help them stand out. All embeds were made with the standard disks that came with my small extruder.
This is my rough drawing 3rd photo. 4th photo is yellows still in the pitchers & bowl.

It's not asking if I want to add the thumbnail pictures, but the cell signal isn't good here.
I can't wait to see all the other pretty soaps!

Hi, here is mine..... used butter cup yellow and spring green mica. Both from NYS.
TD for the white accent. Fragrance persiphones kiss fron natures garden. Just a simple hanger swirl. Everything says spring about it. That's ok, I like the scent.

This is the first time I've used a mold with dividers (thank you @Vicki Carr !) and the first time I've used this much yellow ... maybe ever. (Related: I've had the Coldplay song stuck in my head all week.)

Included the split batter even though it's pretty obvious this is more than 50% yellow, and included the divider lines just because I think they're so neat.

Also the first time I've entered a challenge-- thanks for the inspiration!

I had a slurry mixed up that I wanted to turn into soap before the middle of this month so that greatly influenced my choices for this soap. The soap is fragranced with orange EO in a slurry made with Bengal Spice Tea, basically a Chai on steroids. The tea was run through a grinder and sifted with a strainer so it would be slightly exfoliating and not scratchy. Colors are 1/2 batch Rustic Essentials mixed with Crafters Choice Neon Yellow, 1/4 Nurture Nocturnal Mica and 1/4 Brambleberry Sunset Orange. Design used was a feather swirl. My batter got a little thicker than I wanted so my design isn’t as flowy as I would have liked. Now for the pictures:

My entry is a simple hanger swirl. I used Tennis Ball Breaker (the neon yellow), and Bright yellow raincoat from Mad Micas. I added TD to one of the bright yellow raincoat colors, however, it just didn't really change much if at all. I used TD in the white. I used The Perfect Man FO from Nature's Garden. I also sprinkled some gold dust enviroglitter on top from Nurture's soap.

Here's my "Tropical Bird" soap. Yellow reminds me of the tropical places I've visited on the Caribbean ocean as a child and the amazing birds that live there. I used yellow shea butter and it turned the batter a very pretty yellow. I wasn't sure how well the color would stay however, so I also used Firefly and Full Throttle micas in the yellow portion of the batter to boost the brightness. It is scented with Satsuma Orange from Nurture Handmade and smells just as bright as it looks. I used the feathered mantra swirl technique.

And here is my batter split to show 50 percent or more yellow batter. The pitcher with the yellow was much larger than the pitchers containing the other colors.
The blue is Making Waves mica, and the reddish is Wanderlust mica.

My entry for this challenge. Made with high oleic sunflower oil. 3% Himalayan rhubarb infused oil for the red and 1% tumeric infused oil for the yellow. Scented with WSP hipster

The red set up really fast. I could feel it "breaking" as the chopstick crossed it.

My entry is a family favorite - Lemon Poppyseed. The yellow is colored with BB Buttercup Mica. The scent is kaolin clay soaked with 1/2 Lemon EO and 1/2 Litsea Cubeba. Particularly love this one for use in the kitchen.

I guess I should add that it has a brown mica line between the yellow and white batter. It also has snowflake mica on top to give it a little pizzazz .

Didn't think I'd make it this month. Too much going on with the holidays coming up and colds going around.
Made with my favorite lard recipe courtesy of the wonderful @AliOop and scented with a Lemon FO. I replaced the water with the lightest beer I could find and used that to get the yellow along with a tiny bit of tumeric infused sunflower oil. I separated off about a forth of the batter and added some TD to it.
It only went through partial gel so the ends are still orange but the center pieces were yellow! I was so worried when I saw the top this morning. I promise it's more yellow than in the pictures

Hi everybody my soap is a lemon, almond, oatmeal soap and it smells like lemon meringue pie. I forgot to take photos of my yellow batter though so hopefully you can tell I have used a little more than 50 % yellow soap batter. I made a 3 pound batch and made 1 pound of batter yellow for my bottom layer plus I used 2/3 of a pound of yellow batter for my swirl. For my colors I used yellow mica, pearl gold mica, and TD the colors are from suds n scents and I used fragrance from candora fresh ginger lime, and Calypso sun. Also I ordered a mold to make little Lemon's to decorate the top but it didn't make it here on time. So you will have to imagine them lol. Well here it is.

Hello, fellow Hello Yellowers! The design is an ombre alternating wall pour. The color is yellow mica and titanium dioxide (Bramble Berry). The scent is equal parts eucalyptus, fir needle, peppermint, cedarwood, rosemary essential oils (BB). Mica line is snowflake sparkle.

I was motivated to do another alternating wall pour. It’s easy and has elegant results. I was super proud of my emulsion! The essential oil blend is a favorite, like a winter forest. And those stearic spots were planned, I got skills, baby!
