Hi everyone, I've done lots of batches, used both EOs and FOs, but the problem is when i use the soaps, my skin doesn't smell like the soap, actually it doesn't smell at all, especially the ones that are made with EOs! The smell of the Fragrant Oil soap lasts only for a minute or 2 and then it fades away!

What am i doing wrong? and does it depend on the quality of the EOs? Cause i order mine from WSP!

it's not the source, but the selection. many EOs and FOs don't have much staying power. there are some that do, though - if you want a fragrance that lingers lean toward those.

Off the top of my head, patchouli sticks on skin. I'm sure others can add to my list.

well it depends on how strong they are, the strong ones like Lemongrass, Spearmint, Patchouli (3 tsp per pound) and the rest (4 tsp per pound), is that too little? My Patchouli soap isn't ready yet, so I haven't tried it!

6 tsp in an Oz ---- Thats about .5 oz of scent per pound of oils.. average is 1oz ppo.. sometimes .7 or .8 of oz will work.. all scents will be different.some will stay and some will fade .check website where you purchased and see what people say.. take notes so you know what you did and what you like.. I would try to double what you are putting in now and see what you think..
It doesn't matter if it smells strong in bottle -- things change

be cautious using high levels of mints - they can be quite irritating, as can many spices.

if you use essential oils you need to know about their irritancy and the safety of them - they are not controlled as are fragrance oils.

theres only a few fos that I can recall that actually stay on the skin for an hour or more, Peaks- black canyon, peak- wild mt honey, pachouli honey(elements) but I always use at 1 oz pp.
watch out for cinnamon eo, very skin sensitive.

I have found that almost none of the FOs stay on the skin and the EO soaps definitely don't leave a scent. When you think about it does any soap you have ever used leave a scent on your skin for very long? You might get an hour max. How about making up a body spray?

Thanks all for your replys, guess my soaps are normal after all! will start adding more scent, i'll start with .8 oz cause i think 1 oz would be oo much!
