has anyone made soap w palm and olive? will it turn out? or do i have to have coconut for lather, i have mango butter, shea, castor, avacado butter. I must be addicted, cant wait a week til coconut shipment!
You CAN make soap without the coconut and it will have lather.....especially with palm and olive. However, rather than bubbly, it will be creamy and more lotion like.
It still works very well. I make soap w/o coconut for myself in the winter because of dry patches on my skin and it definitely lathers.
ETA: Take out the space between palm and olive, and you will have the original formula for a huge soap seller.
One of my fav. cheapy recipes is Olive, Palm, Castor, and Crisco with whatever I feel like adding to it at the time.
It's a very hard bar but the Castor gives it a really nice lather. It's very good for kitchen and garage soaps if you want to add some coffee grounds or pumice etc.
You can make soap with 100% OO (Castille) and it is a wonderful soap, it just takes a while to get hard. It is one of my favourites as is Bastille (OO & CO). Oh hold on - I really like tallow too, uhmmmmm - okay I just like soap, but you can make it without coconut.... 8) 8)
