Hello
I'm new to this forum and have been making soap for 3 months now...about two dozen small batches. I appreciate all that's been shared on this forum. I've learned alot, but now it's time to ask a question if I may. I made soap for grandkids using applesauce containers that they saved for me to use. The recipe consists of coconut, olive, palm and castor oils. I added goat's milk at trace and Monkey Farts FO. It has orangy spots all over and am wodering what that is. Doubt it's DOS cause my other soaps don't have it. It is my first time using this fragrance oil. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :D

I'm guessing it was the FO but I don't know for sure. I've never used Monkey Farts FO. But be patient - I'm sure someone will have an answer.

Hello and welcome!

How old is the soap with spots? I ask because DOS doesn't usually rear it's ugly head until the soap is about a couple of months or so old.

Barring DOS, my vote would be on either of these 2:

1) What Hazel suggested- the FO not being mixed in as well as you may have thought is was. I've had that happen to me a few times. If it's the FO, you can usually tell by sniffing the spots- they should smell stronger than the rest of the soap,

or

2) From the goat milk not being mixed in well enough.

The soap had orange spots the day after I made it...it's now 8 days and the spots seem to be getting larger and darker. I used a stick blender on the first batch and it traced too fast then added the GM then FO. I rushed to get it in the mold..I think you're right on thinking I didn't stir enough. The second batch I didn't use SB and was much better and stirred longer but still have light orange spots. I'm assuming it's ok for kids to use? I tested it and seems fine. Lovely scent by the way. Would increasing water help? Thanks
