you can make some nice soaps with olive and castor. I would recommend for your first batch, try just olive oil alone, then the next batch olive oil and castor, and then the 3rd you can add some of the shea butter oil...

You will need a good scale, I like one that is pretty accurate...

visit www.smftutorials.com for some starter tips and tutorials on how to make some small batches, there are a few recipes on there that can help you get started, but Id advise you to stick to something simple at first so you can get the feel for the process, 1st batch= unscented and uncolored... just the basics to get the feel of the process....

check out soapcalc and fool with the numbers on there, you can learn alot from adjusting the percentages and watching the values change.. :)

Also, read back in the forum to look at other peoples first batches, there is a loooooooooooooad of info right at your fingertips!

I would try 100% olive oil for my first batch. You can do a 1 lb. batch (16 ounces of oils) and you could even add the mica if you're feeling frisky 8) haha!

Yeah, I would try to get an accurate scale to AT LEAST 1/10th of an ounce (they are sorta hard to find though).

maybe get some coconut oil? you can usually get at superwalmart or health strore.
