New Soaps

Hi y'all. Been away for a while but back with some new soaps.

AC + pink himalayan salt bar (rosewood eo)

Shikakai, AC, marigold bar (lavander, bergamot, juniperberries eo)

Did some more yesterday. Was going for more shea butter in the recipe and I love it. Really nice texture of the soaps. Also I liked the way I was able to cut them. Really smooth. I soaped at about 48-50°C.
I put them in the fridge this time. Just to see how would the colors behave. I used spirulina, green clay, red clay and AC.
Eucaliptus Eo, Pine Eo and Anis EO.

I don't understand how you get the small circular bar from the giant circular mold. How you cut soap from giant circular mold?
Also, how do you get such perfect layers? Only way I could imagine to get layers like that would be to let the first layer set a little before mixing the lye for the next layer.
I think i will make some of my next batch in that manner. Your soap is very lovely. Thank you for the idea.

Thank you. Not sure what giant circle mold you're talking about .
The mold I used was a Pringles can .
Was expecting more from the caleidoscope one but hey, it's not bad. Tbh all the design is more or less accidental, in my experience. You just keep pouring the colors one after another, pull the shaper thingy thru it and wait and see. The other one is like swirl in a pot. Also, you get what you get.

I like how some of your soaps have layers, rather than swirls. I've never done layers. I just learned swirls a few years ago.
I spent a couple of hours looking at soap shaping tools on the internet. I've just been using a wooden chopstick for making swirls. Thanks for the tip, Phantomka.

Yup wooden chopstick is my tool also.
Tbh these are my like 10th or 11th batches.
I realize I am more focussing on designs rather than developing better recipies. But the more I play with designs, I actually learn more about the batter because of fluidity or thicknes needed for some designs, and that part makes me learn more about oils and butters and their properties.
Like just now. I spent all my butters these days and really wanted to do more soaps. So I had some lard sitting on the shelf and it was time to bring it out. Reading about it, I learned it traces really slow. Wow, finally , I can give a try on Wood Stain technique.
Here it is. Fingers crossed for good cut. I was shaking while pouring. Such a good feeling.
Edited: forgot to write, if you are going for layers, you need thicker batter. A very good and fast thickener would be AC, learned the hard way

Yeees! Sorry, been away fot a while. It didn't turn out so good tbh. First time using lard in the recipe. It makes a nice soap but I think I had mistakes because of the texture of the soap. Not crumbly but signs of it happening.

Any idea why the lines from the inside of the soap are not so visible or pronounced maybe? Is it about pouring or the batter maybe because the ones on the top are perfect.

Do you mean the crumbly or soft areas? It looks to me like you unmolded a bit too soon. Using less water, or a bit of sodium lactate or table salt can also help firm up the loaf. It could also be that you poured at an unstable emulsion, assuming you were trying to keep the batter very fluid.
