Hi all. I'm new to this, but have a question. Is citric acid and stearic acid the same thing? If not what's the difference? Can one use citric acid without using stearic acid in making lotion/creams? I'm new to lotion making. Any advice?

Citric acid is generally used to lower the pH in bath products. Stearic acid is used to thicken and stabilize the formula. They are entirely different in composition and use.
