Hi I'm new my name is Cathy, I made my 1st batch of soap a few days ago...I followed a simple castile recipe and its looking pretty good!

my question is when following a recipe how do you know exactly how much soap is being made.....example I used 30oz of olive oil 10oz palm 10oz coconut and the lye and water...when I cut all my bars i weighed them and it was 5lbs....

Also this case sensitive stuff is very confusing do you have to enter it for everything???

another question if your adding color with CP recipe do you add it with the lye and water??

also I did find a palm oil at my health food store its in a tub and its 1.5 lbs
I'm wondering if anyone thinks its a little pricey it was about 7$ all it is-is organic vegetable shortening but it reads 100% palm oil and the coconut was 8$ for 14 oz's....I did find coconut cheaper on sweetcakes.com 14$ for a gallon, can I use crisco?? or is the organic veg shortening better?

should I still be able to cut my soap with no problems at 2weeks of curing?

yes.

Also, it might be better to start a new topic for each question you have under the forum you think it would fit the best.. you will get way more answers that way :)
