HI! I'm new here- but not new to soap making!

we have a "retail soap shop" in Eagle River, WI- starting our 10th year in business! I've been making CP soap for probably 20 years- my grandmother made soap and my mother made soap-so it's "in the blood!"

hopefully I can contribute here- when I have time to be on the computer!

we also sell our fragrance oils and supplies at www.scenterstage.com
we know the FO's are great- we use them in literally "tons" of soap each year!
look forward to this forum!

Welcome!

It's nice to have a 3rd generation soaper here for those of us in the first!
Would love to hear sometime of the changes in soaping from your grandmother to your mom to you. :)

I still have my grandmothers original "recipe" for soap-and her enameled pot- she died well over 20 years ago at age 94-

the recipe was for 5 pounds of renderded fat and a can of Red Devil lye and I think a quart of water- directions to stir with a wooden stick! and pour into a cardboard box- lined with a cloth!

and that's how I made my first batch of soap!
and now 20 years later and lots of research and soap making I'm still at it- but do things a little different now!!

That's just really cool. I love the idea of passing skills on from generation to generation. I hope my kid(s) are proud of me someday for being a creative mom. :D

(just one kid for right now but I am learning to make soap to help care for his eczema and sensitive skin!!! mine too, he got it from his momma!)
