I haven't even started just yet. This started as a wonder if my girls would like to be able to do something together. I asked them and they were happy about so now I have starting with reading a book about it and then start to get all the things that I need to get started. I have a few things only due to making my own diaper rash cream. I have some mango butter, coconut oil, and palm oil plus some of the things I always have in my kitchen. I just need a pot to put it in and some other essentials. But once I have all that is needed to make a couple batches with the girls and we will have fun while we are learning. I really can't wait till we get to start.

I am thinking about a cold batch for each a small one and start off mixing by hand so i can tell the differances in trace. My daughters are 12 and 9 i know they cant do some if it like stiring the oils. i also have plans on getting melt and pour with some nice molds. It is a slow process getting all the thing i need to get it done properle the scale is the big thing right now cant do anything without it. I am reading the everything soapmaking book plus a book i ordered. I just want to know what I am doing and then be able to do it. Knowledge is power. I know that once I get the scale and the other thing that are a must to have before the soap ingredients getting those will be easy for the small batches.

I am always open to any suggestions.

I think starting with melt and pour with your daughters would be best. I'd be a leery about girls of their ages handling CP soap. Although they could weigh your oils for you when you get your scales. :D

BTW, I forgot I had already welcomed you to the forum and posted a message to your comment on the SMF thread.

Hi and welcome!

You probably didn't come here looking for safety advice, but if it was me, I would probably start with melt and pour, then let them watch me make cold process soap, then have them help with a batch (using ALL of the proper safety equipment -- long pants, waterproof shoes, long sleeves, goggles, fume mask, and long gloves).

Lye is really dangerous, but depending on your girls' maturity level, I think it could be a good lesson in safe chemistry!

Good luck!
