I just wanted to say hello and thanks for the add. I have not started making soaps yet but am very interested in learning more about how to do it so I can stop using all the horrible things the big companies use and use more natural.
I would first like to try a peppermint. I feel that "scent" would be the most refreshing. But I wanted to come here and first see if it something I would continue doing.

Welcome! A word of caution with peppermint soap, if you are using a fragrance or essential oil make sure you stay within IFRA guidelines. Guidelines can be found on the manufacturer’s website if you purchase from a soapmaking supplier. Peppermint is lovely but can be a bit *lively* if too strong and used on delicate bits. 🔥 😊

@vanmini , welcome! soaping can be really addictive, so watch out!!
If you end up buying your peppermint essential oil from somewhere that is NOT a soap supplier, you can get IFRA guidelines online at EOCalc. The link is:

How are you teaching yourself to make soap? Is it through UTubes or books? I watched a ton of UTube videos and read this forum (for a ridiculously long time) to get started. Although, to be honest, this forum is where I get all my questions answered!! Watching videos can give you ideas on what fragrance oils or essential oils you may want to try. If you like peppermint, that is pretty readily available just about anywhere, so that could be a vote for peppermint.
We look forward to hearing more about your journey!
