Rainbow - I just cant seem to get soaps to gel -- Help

Altho its pretty I prefer to gel for darker colors.. I cant seem to get soaps to gel in my new mold.. I got the bramble berry 9 bar mold.. and Ideas greatly appriciated !!

I'm of no help with your swirl question but I do think they are lovely anyway!

You have the new baltic birch mold? Can that go in a warm oven? Or even just an oven with the light on.

Hmmm, I went and looked. They do have a finish...not sure how that will do in the oven. I prefer wood molds without finishes so I can gel in the oven.

You can also set it on a heating pad while insulated.

The bars, I think are shaped funny. ok different. I'm use to log mold ..
you still have to line it :( .. the soaps a bit hard to get out ( it's new ) hope that will change.
the seperator is bent some, i'm trying to straighted it but lying mold on it.. pressed book idea...
I do like that you can swirl the top.. practice I guess. and find my heating pad

to help get gell in a slab mold you could heat a pizza stone in the oven, take it out and set the mold on top of that, or use a microwaveable heat pack.

I did a batch today .. wrapped it with my electric blanket .. ( heating pad in storage :? )
I did get it to gel  but it seperated .. Dang it ! I think it got tooo hot.

So I guess I have to practice with that now --- NEVER ending

and again thank you all for being soooo wonderful with your comments !

Truly gorgeous colors! I have 3 questions for you:

1. what size is that bar? (I'm trying to decide on my favorite bar size, but I'm not sure)

2. you mentioned that you soap at a certain temp because it's better for swirling. Can you explain? I usually soap at 120 and it works ok for swirls, but if I can get them to work even better, then I'll try it.

3. Do you swirl at light/thin trace? I really like your effect.

Thanks! :D

bar size is 1 7/8 x 2 7/8 and about 1 1/2 inch thick ... I haven't decided if I like it yet. Bramble berry 9 bar mold
temps I mix ( lye water about 105 and oils at 95 )
careful not to pour too soon - colors will run together.. let it thicken a bit..
its thin trace , just not too thin .. maybe eggnog consistancy .. if you pour soft it will sit on top.. if you raise the container up while you pour it will go deeper into the bar.

colors are TKBtrading .. the pop sample colors powder.
