I wasn't sure which category to ask this in but I have some Shea butter that I'm pretty sure is unrefined, it got frozen and thawed a few times so I'm worried the cold and then heat over and over has ruined it. Anyone know if it's useful or if it will go rancid in my lotion bars?

Hello and welcome,

Your post could have either gone in the Bath & Body section or the CP section but I'll just leave it here since people will still see it.

Does the shea still smell good? I wouldn't trust the shea to have an extended life but it would also depend on fast you use your lotion bars. I definitely wouldn't use it if you're planning on selling the lotion bars. But this is just my opinion.

Welcome! :)

I agree with Hazel. Since most things that get frozen/thawed and then frozen/thawed again are usually not in the best of shape for use (if at all), I definitely wouldn't sell anything made with it. If it were me, I would see how it looked and smelled, and if it all seemed okay I would probably make lotion bars or whatever with it for only myself.

IrishLass :)

I called ths tore where I bought it

Why I didn't think of this before I don't know and they said it should be fine unless it smelled bad and it doesn't. It's only from January as well. It's so hard with these things because now I have two people saying it's fine and two people saying not to use it but I guess if the people selling it to ME says it's OK than it probably is? It doesn't look or smell funny.

Part of my last message got cut off in the beginning i think...it's showing up strange, anyway I called the store where I bought it and they said it's fine. idk it's very hard to figure out all this stuff
