Ok so I want to make the Body oil candles you know like the ones they sell around V Day for you and your speical someone  Well I have my recipe and I am assuming that I will use a soap/body safe colorant for this but which kind would be the best to make the color really stick? Mica powder is what i'm thinking but any advice? :p

my advice first advice is to make sure you are well insured because they scream lawsuit to me. I mean, even though they are supposed to be blown out before use, who knows what someone will do with a "candle". also be sure you know the maximum temp the "oil" will reach because it should never get too hot for the skin (max 120? I dunno - find out and be careful) and the container shouldn't get too hot either because someone WILL pick it up.

second, make sure you use any fragrance at SKIN SAFE levels, usually around 1%-2% and not at typical candle levels of 6%-8%. and make sure you are using skin safe FOs to begin with (if EOs be careful which you select).

and finally - your question: for colorants, micas are great - coastal scents has lovely skin safe micas.

Thanks Carebear! I was thinking about the caution sticker what it should say actually lmao and I had been asking about the insurance how you go about getting that in a different discussion.. but no one responds :(

Oh you need to know about insurance? There are a couple that offer for B&B people. You need to ensure they cover candles too = since there is clearly crossover for this product.

Handmade Soap Maker's Guild and the Indie Beauty Network are the two I know of.

(I have RLI, but it specifically excludes candles)

I am going to add, all the stickers in the world will not help you if someone pours that on their tender parts & gets burned & tells the court you told them it was safe.

I am w/ carebear... it's flat out a real bad idea. Very intruiging 8) but a very bad idea.

Both Carebear. Hmm you're right Tab it's extremely risky but also I don't know how many people would be to interested in something like that out where we live!!! They're backwoods country folk and fairly conservative with something like lmao... Maybe i'll just keep the idea in the back of my mind in the could be's but never will be's section
